Introduction
Environmental Sensor Co.’s Ethylene Oxide Meter is a hand held instrument that measures ethylene oxide concentration with a range of 0-20 ppm and a resolution of 0.1 ppm. The instrument has an LCD display giving concentrations in ppm every 10 seconds. The internal micro-controller computes a 15-minute average (STEL) and an hourly average, up to 8 hours (TWA). The meter also features a low battery indicator and an audible alarm that can be set at any level in range of the sensor.

Theory of Operation
The sensing element of the instrument is an electro-chemical cell. The cell is a four-electrode type, which contains a working and an active auxiliary electrode. The signal from the auxiliary electrode is used for temperature compensation. This improves the selectivity of the entire sensor. The sensor's response is linear with the concentration of ethylene oxide in air.
