The Z-700 Nitric Oxide Meter is a hand held instrument which measures nitric oxide concentration, in air, with a range of 0-100 ppm and a resolution of 0.5 ppm. The instrument features an LCD display, a low battery indicator, and an audible alarm, which can be set at any level, within range of the sensor. The LCD display outputs the current nitric oxide concentration, in ppm, every ten seconds. Peak, STEL (15 minute average), and TWA (an 8 hour average) values can also be viewed at any time.

The sensing element of the instrument is an electro-chemical cell. The cell is a four-electrode type, which contains a working and an active auxiliary electrode. The signal from the auxiliary electrode is used for temperature compensation and to improve the selectivity of the entire sensor. The sensor response is linear with the concentration of nitric oxide in air.

This sensor may respond to certain gases in addition to nitric oxide. This table shows the typical response expected, when the meter is exposed to a given gas concentration. Care needs to be exercised if using this instrument in the presence of large concentrations of these gases. Contact the manufacturer if difficulties are suspected with interfering gases or with other usage problems.
