The Z-1200 Ozone Meter is a hand held instrument which measures ozone concentration, in air, with a range of 0-2 ppm and a resolution of 0.02 ppm. The instrument has an LCD display, which is updated every 10 seconds. A 15-minute average (STEL) and an hourly average can also be viewed. The meter also features a low battery indicator and an audible alarm, which can be set at any level from 0-2 ppm.

The sensing element of the instrument is an electrochemical cell. The cell is a four-electrode type, which contains a working and an active auxiliary electrode. The signal from the auxiliary electrode is used for temperature compensation. This improves the selectivity of the entire sensor. The sensors response is linear with the concentration of ozone in air.

This sensor may respond to certain gases in addition to ozone. This table shows the typical response expected, when the meter is exposed to a given gas concentration of the specified gas. Care needs to be exercised about using this instrument in the presence of large concentrations of these gases.
